A project keeps this app’s Google connection settings together. Use the same project throughout this guide.
- Open the link above and sign in with your Google account.
- In Project name, enter Unlikora. For a personal project, choose No organization if offered.
- Click Create. When it finishes, choose that project using the project selector at the top of Google Cloud.
You should see your project name in Google Cloud’s top bar. If you already have a project for this app, select it instead.
This opens the exact page for YouTube Data API v3, which lets the app work with your YouTube activity.
- Check that Unlikora, or your chosen project, is selected at the top.
- On the YouTube Data API v3 page, click Enable.
- Wait for it to finish, then return to this tab and choose Next step.
If Google shows Manage instead of Enable, it is already enabled.
If selecting your project took you to the dashboard
Return to this guide and click Open API page directly again. Or use ☰ Menu → APIs & services → Library, search for YouTube Data API v3, and open the matching result. The Enable button is on that API’s page.
These details identify the app on Google’s permission screen.
Follow the numbered list in order as you move through Google’s four form sections. If Google Auth Platform is already configured, review its Branding page instead of starting again.
You should now have a Google Auth Platform configuration for this project. If it already exists, review its Branding details and continue.
While the app is being tested, Google only lets the accounts you add here connect.
- For personal testing, keep the app’s publishing status set to Testing.
- Find Test users and choose Add users.
- Enter the Google email you will use for YouTube, then click Save.
Your Google email should appear in the Test users list. Use that account when you sign in to Unlikora.
Google calls permissions “scopes.” This app needs the scope below to delete your comments and remove video ratings.
- Choose Add or remove scopes.
- Find youtube.force-ssl and select it. If you cannot find it, use Manually add scopes and enter the full address below.
- Click Update, then save the Data Access page if prompted.
https://www.googleapis.com/auth/youtube.force-ssl
The YouTube scope should now be included in the app’s requested permissions.
This is a one-time configuration for the person running Unlikora. Google uses the client ID and authorized address to identify your app when visitors sign in. The client ID is public; it is not a password.
- As the site owner, choose Create Client. Set Application type to Web application and name it Unlikora Web.
- Under Authorized JavaScript origins, choose Add URI and paste the existing address where you host Unlikora. Use https:// and the domain, with no page path.
- Click Create. Copy the Client ID from the result, then return here. You do not need the client secret.
If you are still preparing Unlikora locally, use the HTTPS address assigned by your host once you publish it. Regular visitors skip this owner setup and use your saved website connection.
Using the desktop launcher instead?
For local development, add both http://localhost and http://localhost:8787 as origins. The standalone HTML file cannot sign in.
Return from Google’s Clients page and paste the value labeled Client ID. Then choose Save & return and connect your Google account.
It ends with .apps.googleusercontent.com. Never paste a client secret, password, or access token.
Making this website available to other people?
The site owner should supply this public client ID for visitors. After entering it above, download the website settings below. Replace config.mjs in the website folder with that download, then upload the updated folder to your host.
Visitors can then sign in without creating their own Google projects. While the Google app is in Testing, only added test users can connect. Wider public use may require Google’s verification.
Use the same Google project throughout. These steps configure the app for its website owner; ordinary visitors use the site’s saved connection.
